Canadian scientists recently published the results of a study of how exercise impacts physical health. The research, published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, focused on a group of mice genetically predisposed to age at an accelerated rate. A portion of this group of mice exercised on a treadmill three times a week for 45 minutes while the remaining mice did not exercise. Comparing the two groups after five months offered dramatic results.

In previous studies of mice genetically predisposed to aging, those given drugs to aide in dieting and those who consumed a calorie-reduced diet did not fare as well as those mice who simply exercised regularly.
Adeel Safdar, lead author of the study on exercise explains, “Exercise truly is the fountain of youth.”
